Had the pleasure of visiting this exhibition on Saturday 26th July and it certainly lived up to what I was expecting and more. Had great fun with friends (Geoffrey Ford, Hemal Patel and the lovely Mary Kleenyside) to sample and experience Japanese food, culture, music, fashion and especially meet some very lovely people 🙂 Can’t wait for the next one!!
According and full credits to View London This 3 day event is all about –
Fashion shows, manga drawing workshops, Anime film screenings and authentic Japanese food, Hyper Japan is a must for fans of Japanese culture.
Japanese festival
Scratching under the service of Japanese popular culture and presenting its most dynamic elements in bite sized morsels, the Hyper Japan takes over Earls Court for three days of colourful fun all the way from Nippon. From cosplay to live music and Japanese sweets to the chance to dress up in a traditional kimono, there’s plenty to keep you occupied at the show.
Eat Japan
Make sure you come to the Hyper Japan festival hungry so that you can feast on dishes such as edamame, hand made sushi and gyoza at the food court, with stalls manned by some of the most popular Japanese restaurants in London. There’s also the chance to stock up on authentic Japanese ingredients for your kitchen, and buy treats such as traditional Japanese sweets called wagashi, as well as green tea and sake.
Cosplay
The Japanese subculture of Cosplay will also feature at the Hyper Japan London festival, bringing even more high spirited colour pizzazz to the occasion. A portmanteau term from the words costume and play, Cosplay draws inspiration from anime, manga and video game characters, and at Hyper Japan London you can join in with all the fun by getting colourful and glittering eyelash extensions, or simply marvel at the spectacle of the Cosplay parade.
Fashion and films
Other highlights of the Japanese pop culture festival include fashion shows, as well as a manga drawing seminars, anime screenings and more. After the popularity of last year’s festival, the event is making a welcome return to London in 2014 just in time for the warm summer weather, and is setting up shop at Earls Court once more.
The Hyper Japan London Festival takes place at Earls Court from Friday 25th July – Sunday 27th July 2014.
